Born and raised in coastal Southeastern Massachusetts, Kevin Cormier has always been drawn to art,  even as a child having the desire to draw or paint the people and places around him. 

After attending a summer program at Swain School of Design in the mid-seventies, Kevin met an area artist, Stacy Netherland.    He studied several years with her, becoming her protogee'.  His work has been shown at the Trollheim Galleries in North Dartmouth, MA and St. Augustine, FL for over 2 decades until Stacy's passing in 2004. 

Having appeared in numerous shows in New England and Florida, Kevin continues to remain active showing independently and as a member of the Berdstadt Art Society and the Fall River Art Society, along with painting and teaching others to paint.  Several years ago, Phoenix Tree Art Studio was built in Historic New Bedford with the desire to share the joy of painting with as many people as possible.  We hope you enjoy it as well!
