The Bass Head Lighthouse is located in Bar Harbor, Maine. It was built in 1858, it is 32 feet tall and was operated by John Thurston. The original hand-rung fog bell was replaced in 1898 with a 4, 000lb fog bell. In 1949, the lighthouse was converted to electric and in 1974 the lighthouse became automated.
